TV Receiver Connection Information

Wiring up your Sky receiver to a television and satellite dish is very simple.

Using a Scart Lead

Below is a very simple diagram on how to wire up your Sky Satellite receiver to the television using a scart lead to connect to the television. This is usually the best option as you will receive stereo sound and you will not need to tune your television to the satellite receiver. However, some older televisions will not have a scart input

  1. Television.
  2. Satellite Reciever.
  3. Satellite Dish.
  4. Scart lead connecting the satellite receiver to the television.

Connecting the satellite receiver to the television

On the back of the satellite receiver there will usually be two scart sockets. Use the one labelled TV to connect to your television. On the back of the television connect the other end of the scart lead to the television scart input. If there is more than one input, use input number 1 if possible. (It will however not make too much difference as to which input you use).

On the back of the satellite receiver there should be a screw-on connector labelled ‘satellite input’. This is where the cable from the satellite dish is connected to. One end of the cable should be connected to the satellite dish, the other end to the satellite receiver.

Now switch you television on. Lastly the satellite box will need to have electricity to power it. This will also need to be connected.

Sky remote controlNext, connect the power to the satellite receiver. A little red light should appear on the front of your satellite receiver. You will now have to wait a couple of minutes for the satellite box to ‘boot up’. Now press the Sky button on your satellite remote and the satellite box should switch on and a little green light should appear on the sky box.

Once you switch your sky box on, the television should automatically tune into the Sky box. If it does not, you should try pressing the ‘Sky’ button again on the Sky remote control. Also there should be a button on your television remote that switches the television to the scart input.

No satellite signal being received

Now that the TV is connected to the Satellite receiver you need to align your satellite dish. Once your satellite dish is correctly aligned, you will be watching TV instead of seeing the above message.

Using an Aerial Lead

If your television does not have a scart input you can use the aerial input instead. Below is a simple diagram of how to connect your satellite receiver to a television using an aerial lead.

On the back of the television connect the other end of the aerial lead to the television aerial input. You should only be able to use one end of the aerial lead to connect to the television, the other end will only fit the satellite receiver aerial output.

Also there should be another screw-on connector on the back of the satellite receiver labelled ‘satellite input’. This is where the cable from the satellite dish is connected to. One end of the cable should be connected to the satellite dish, the other end to the satellite receiver.
