Complete a Software Update for the Satellite Receiver

If your satellite receiver has not been connected to a satellite dish for some time it may require a software update.

This procedure will only work if the satellite receiver is connected to a correctly aligned satellite dish.

  1. Switch the receiver off by disconnecting the power supply.
  2. Press and hold the ‘Back Up’ button located on the front of the receiver.
  3. Re-connect the power supply whilst still pressing the ‘Back up’ and continue to hold until all four LED lights on the receiver light up.
  4.  If you take your finger off the ‘Back Up’ button before all the LEDs light up, you will have to repeat the process again.
  5. You will see a message on the TV screen informing you that a software update is taking place as seen below.

Updating the system software for your sky recevier.

The software update should take up to 10 minutes. When completed the satellite receiver will automatically put itself on to standby mode.

Just one red LED light will now be visible and the message on the TV screen will have disappeared.

If the satellite receiver is still trying to update the software after 10 minutes, this usually means the process has failed and a second attempt to update is needed. Further update failures may highlight problems elsewhere.

90% of the time an incorrectly aligned satellite dish is the problem.

Switch the receiver off. Switch the Sky receiver back on and re-check your dish alignment.
