Very often people ask for the exact compass direction to point their sky or freesat satellite dish to receive a good signal. The direction the satellite needs to be aiming varies depending where you are. I would always recommend that you use a satellite finder to get a better satellite dish alignment. A compass will however give you a very good indication of the rough direction to point your satellite dish. A general rule of thumb is that as you travel further east the more southerly the satellite dish looks and as you move further south the higher the satellite dish elevation. (But do bear in mind that most satellite dishes are offset so look like they are pointing straight ahead when they are at the correct elevation).
